The Rope Coil Basket in Medium is a twisted hazel handled basket, made by duo Sarah Loughlin and Marcus Wootton (Hopewood Baskets) from their Worcestershire home.
The basket is made using sustainable and locally sourced material; hand-cut willow from the duo’s own willow beds and twisted hazel from a family member’s garden.
The main varieties of willow used are Flanders red, Continental purple and Goldstones, giving layers of tonal depth in the baskets. Hopewood Baskets have taken inspiration from historical basket-makers to apply design styles and techniques such as an asymmetric border and the rope coil weave.
