Artichoke Basket is by Dominic Parrette, a basketmaker specialising in woven and constructed frame baskets and traditional trugs.
This basket is made from split willow and based on a French design. It is a constructed frame basket made in a similar way to the Sussex Trug in that shaped and shaved components are nailed together using steel tacks.
The frame and ribs of this basket ar eprepared using a sharp pocket knife, shaving the components over the makers thigh, protected by a piece of leather. Frame and ribs are put together using a hammer and small anvil.
