Breck Heather Light by Annemarie O'Sullivan was inspired by Annemarie's time spent in residency on the Orkney Islands, organised by The New Craftsmen. "Breck" is derived from the old Orcadian word to describe shallow clay ground which stunted heather grows from. Heather has traditionally been used in Orkney to make rope and baskets, and is known as a reliable material for thatching roofs.
