After years of research, John has recreated the complete family of Devon stave basket forms based on the original set once owned by the last dedicated maker, Jack Rowsell of Tiverton, who died in 1997.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eMade from ash and elm, each basket reflects an understanding of the qualities these native timbers bring to its construction. As both species face significant threats from tree disease, John’s work also preserves a material knowledge that is increasingly at risk of being lost.
